University Outreach

The Greater Triangle Chapter of IFMA recognizes the importance of education as a means of enhancing and growing the facilities profession. Therefore, the Chapter strives to provide financial assistance to worthy students who are enrolled in recognized Facility Management programs. Such support not only provides necessary financial help to the recipients but also creates an extended professional family linking outstanding students with practicing professionals. Scholarship awards are officially made in conjunction with IFMA’s World Workplace event each Fall.

The Chapter’s sole source of funding the IFMA Foundation Scholarship is the annual golf tournament held each spring. The net proceeds from this event provide for an annual monetary award and attendance at IFMA’s World Workplace for the selected student. The golf tournament has been a success with increased participation and revenue each year. Continued growth of the tournament can ultimately provide financial support for multiple scholarships. This is the Chapter’s long term goal.

The scholarship selection process is managed by the IFMA Foundation and supported by representatives of Chapters and Councils sponsoring scholarships. These representatives have the opportunity to review all scholarship applications and ultimately select the winners. This “hands on” process provides for recognition of worthy students by direct involvement of Chapter and Council members. The selection process is a challenging task but one that is very worthwhile given the outstanding quality of the candidates. Based upon these students, the future of our profession is in good hands.
