Our August meeting will be a tour of Red Hat’s new headquarters in downtown Raleigh.  We will start our meeting with networking at 3:15 followed by a general overview of the facility and tour at 3:45.  A social at Zinda just down the street will follow the tour.

The new Red Hat Headquarters, referred to as “Red Hat Tower,” is the former 19 story Progress Energy office building located at the corner of Davie and Wilmington Streets. This facility serves as Red Hat’s Global Headquarters Building.  Approximately 1,100 employees working in the building today and the total capacity will be roughly 1,650.

Fun facts about the new building:

  • The office environment embodies a highly collaborative design uniting Workplace with Red Hat Brand and Culture.
  • Collaboration and Sharing are core values that embody Red Hat.  To enable this essential ingredient most employees work in low-walled cubicles arranged in an open-floor plan encouraging interaction.
  • The focus on Collaboration and flat management hierarchy creates a “we” verses “me” approach and limited the ratio of private office to open plan workstations.
  • Some of the most desirable spaces are reserved for conference rooms with a mix of furniture settings that can be reserved by pressing touch pads mounted next to the doors or via our calendaring system.
  • Each floor of the building has a feature wall that incorporates materials local to North Carolina and this region including material reuse from the building retro fit contributing to the our Sustainability goals (Interior: LEED Gold)
  • The 12th floor boasts a long block of North Carolina pine and creates a design feature native to our regional heritage.

PARKING:  Please be advised that you may park in any of the surrounding garages for a small fee.  There are entrances to surrounding parking decks from Blount and Wilmington Street.  Please enter the Red Hat Tower through the main entrance located next to Buku off Davie Street.

Look forward to seeing everyone on the 14th at Red Hat.
