Survey Says…

Last month, the Council and Chapter Sustainability Liaisons were asked to participate in a survey providing feedback about our own companies and experiences with sustainable programs and initiatives.  While the findings varied on some points, struggles to achieve management buy-in and funding was consistently reported.  Survey participants asked IFMA to provide more tools and resources to help Facility Managers gain the knowledge needed to build and support a sustainable business case.

Below are some of the recently shared tools and resources to help us all down the path…

  • The International Sustainability Alliance, the global network of real estate organizations, has launched its 2011 Benchmarking Report.  The report features three critical ISA key performance indicators (KPIs) that measure the intensity of energy, water and CO2 emissions by floor area.
  • IFMA partnered with Johnson Controls Inc. for the fifth annual Energy Efficiency Indicator report study in order to learn more about energy consumption and plans for improvement.
  • Newsweek’s 2011 Green Rankings list which analyzes the biggest companies and what they are doing to save the planet has been released.
  • View the new IFMA Sustainability Minute Video on Water  on YouTube.
  • Download the companion piece, IFMA Foundation’s Sustainability How-to Guide – Water Conservation Part 1 Part 2
  • The American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) has released the fifth edition of its State Energy Efficiency Scorecard.
  • Finding comparative building data just got easier. IFMA has released an online survey management system entitled BEX. BEX helps you participate in IFMA surveys and participants have free and unlimited access to specific survey benchmarking data. Once enough data is collected to build a report, you can: Access survey data to compare hundreds of building reports to your facility’s data, filter benchmark data specific to your needs—sort by industry, facility type, geographic region, facility size and more.
