Cris Karasek – 2016-2017 Secretary

What excites you the most about IFMA’s work in the Triangle?  The way the entire organization works together to provide great opportunities for all members to interact

What made you decide to be on the Board?  I am retiring from my “real job” and felt I would finally have the time to be more active with IFMA at a local level

What do you want to accomplish by serving on the IFMA Board?  I’m excited about learning more about how the organization works and how I can best support our initiatives

How will being on the IFMA Board help you achieve your own personal goals?  I hope to polish my public speaking skills

What legacy do you want to leave by virtue of serving on the IFMA Board? I hope I can facilitate opportunities for everyone to get involved with something they truly feel passionately about

What about IFMA makes you passionate about the organization? The camaraderie and support that membership provides

What is your proudest professional accomplishment?  Building a Facility Management group from the ground up…and influencing them to want to be Facility Management professionals through training, education, and experience.

What about accomplishments outside of work?  Raising my daughter to be independent, adventuresome, and a good citizen

Do you have a professional mentor?  How important has mentorship been to your career?   My first mentor asked me to help him install a kitchen plan that I had drawn and specified.  It was a challenge to do that…and I knew what I was thinking!  He taught me to always think about the trades that have to try and interpret what we design! And to listen to their suggestions!

What are you really good at?  Setting and achieving goals…especially if I have “a list”

What is something that most IFMA folks would not know about you?  My husband and I have hiked all of the State Parks in North Carolina

If you were holding the winning Powerball ticket from this week, what would you do with the money?  Buy a house at the beach, one in the mountains, and one at a lake. Plus I’d hire a chauffeur to drive me everywhere (I don’t like to drive).

What do you like to do when you are not at work or doing IFMA Stuff?  Travel (usually to a hiking destination)
