Sub Committees
The Communications Committee (a.k.a Publicity Committee) has evolved over the years since the chapter’s revitalization in the late 1990’s. At that time the Chapter President was also the one person publicity committee. The Communications Committee has become a consistent and reliable news source designed to effectively create, publish and distribute a variety of information, to educate and communicate with our chapter members and local facilities professionals. The Communications Committee strives to improve our standards as part of our overall Strategic Planning process each year.
The Communications Committee has grown from a one person committee to 9+ committee members. In 2010 the the Committee expanded its functions to encompass many sub-committees:
- Newsletter
- Chapter Branding
- Photography
- Social Media – looking for volunteers!
- Press Releases
- Website – looking for volunteers!
Web Site: Our web site represents a single source of communication to keep our members informed and in touch with current chapter and organization activities, related events, opportunities and facilities news in general. It is a dynamic and flexible electronic platform that promotes efficient distribution of information, encourages member participation, and fosters an environment to enrich each member’s experience in IFMA.
Chapter Branding: We strive to engage you, using technology, images and information to better meet expectations, expanding the potential of our Newsletter and Web site to have constant interaction and a new experience each time you visit.
Photography: A member of the publicity committee utilizing our chapter’s digital camera. Photos provided by all members have been compiled for multiple publications. During large chapter and national events and community outreach activities, there are always multiple resources to provide our treasured “Kodak moments”.
Press Releases: Press releases are issued to local business news publication, Triangle Business Journal (TBJ), and to the local newspaper, The News and Observer (N&O). These publications are distributed throughout the Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill (Triangle) area with a population of over 1.75 million people. Items Included are:
- Monthly meeting programs
- Special events
- Members that have received certifications
- Newly elected board elections.
Through dedication and commitment of volunteers, we are confident that our Publicity Committee will continue to evolve and remain a critical tool to help keep our members active, educated, involved and informed.
