What’s the Buzz…

Chapter Secretary Update-Thank you past secretary IFMA Joey and welcome to the new chapter secretary, IFMA Lorana!

I had a chance to catch up and interview Joey Adcock now that he’s busy in his new job as the chief engineer at the The Umstead Hotel and Spa – a five diamond and five star hotel that demands perfection 24-7-365.  In his new job, Joey will be helping The Umstead Hotel and Spa define their Training Communication and Safety programs.

  • How long have you been a member of the IFMA Greater Triangle Chapter?

I’ve been a member of IFMA for about 5 years.

  • How did you find out about IFMA?

While working at Cotton, my manager at the time suggested I become a member.

  • How long have you served a the chapters secretary?

I’ve served as secretary for 2 years.

  • What were your key contributions to the chapter in your tenure as Secretary?

I helped ‘getting off the ground’ the chapters social media, standardization of process on how to get the messages out to the chapter and creating the IFMA Joey brand to be personal and professional for the chapter.  I also worked on trying to make communication more streamlined-creating messages that were targeted, concise, easy to read and for people act on.

  • What is your most memorable IFMA moment?

The world workplace in Atlanta.  This was my first world workplace experience and it was great seeing everyone dressed up at the evening gala, socializing, networking, learning and taking classes together.

Joey will continue to  be an active member and will be assisting Lorana as our new Secretary. The strong brand he built as IFMA Joey is now being carried forward by Lorana as IFMA Lorana.  Joey sends his gratitude to the chapter for giving him the tools needed to excel his career.  “Everything I know about facilities management and how to organize people has come from the chapter.”  In his new job, he uses a lot of the skills learned while serving as secretary for the chapter.  We wish Joey the very best in his new job and look forward to seeing IFMA Joey, his bowtie and smiling face around.  Next time you see him, please take a moment to thank him for all his great work with the chapter and congratulate him on his new job.

Welcome Lorana Price!  Lorana is the CEO and lead brand strategist of Holy Cow Branding. Holy Cow provides branding, marketing and analytics service to a/e/c and life science companies. Lorana joined the IFMA Greater Triangle Chapter a year and a half ago to help the leadership team improve the brand experience of its members. Moving into the secretary position is a natural fit for supporting the rising board’s strategic initiatives.

“I’m excited to take on the role of secretary with the GTC of IFMA. Not only do I enjoy and appreciate the camaraderie,  but I value the leadership training and development, too. As the new secretary (IFMA Lorana), I hope to take all that IFMA Joey has done to the next level, so it can be carried on in future years.”

Please join me in thanking Joey for the tremendous difference he has made to the chapter in his tenure as Chapter Secretary and welcome IFMA Lorana as she takes the baton and takes the chapter to the next level.
