Presidents Message Feb 2014

Greetings Chapter Members,

I hope you have managed to stay warm throughout the extremely cold temperatures we have been experiencing in the Triangle area.  Inclement weather brings its own set of challenges for the Facility Manger. The Facility Manager and their teams need to activate the necessary resources to maintain a seamless operation of their facilities, to provide continuous, uninterrupted building operations safely and efficiently during extreme weather conditions-a critical job.

On January 23rd, we had the pleasure of hosting in Raleigh, IFMA International’s President and CEO Tony Keane and Board of Directors Second Vice Chair Michael D. Feldman.  I was able to get several of the Chapters past presidents and board members together to share with them the chapters vision, goals and business operations which was very well received by them.

They provided valuable feedback of their observations and impression of our organization.

Neville,

First – thanks again for organizing our visit it was a great day and I thoroughly enjoyed hearing about what the Greater Triangle Chapter is doing.  Best item though was meeting all of you.

Here are my observations:

The Greater Triangle Chapter demonstrated the use of technology to better communicate to its members and leaders. I was very impressed with the discipline and adherence to the use of the Balanced Scorecard with metrics. I really liked how it was cascaded down to each committee.  Your chapter is an example of how to implement the BSC well. I also was impressed with the cohesiveness of the chapter leadership group.  You were all focused on growing the chapter, serving the members and leadership development. It was a pleasure to see the camaraderie.  I am sure there are times where not everyone agrees but you obviously resolve those differences constructively. I was extremely pleased to see how the chapter has incorporated the new logo. I was glad to hear the positive remarks.  I look forward to sharing with other leaders the accomplishments of the Greater Triangle Chapter.

Best regards, Tony Tony Keane, CAE President & CEO International Facility Management Association

Neville – Our time together was nothing but inspiring and motivating to me as an IFMA leader. I too was very impressed with your use of technology to help guide and measure the Chapters efforts. More important was the alignment of leadership and purpose you have achieved. The time with the Chapter officers both past and present sent a powerful signal about the health and vibrancy of the Greater Triangle Chapter. The welcome Tony and I received at the Chapter’s networking event was memorable as was the entire event. It left no doubt that current Chapter Board under your leadership has made great progress and that will continue under Laura’s term as well. Congratulations and Thank You for epitomizing what Chapter leadership can achieve with hard work, great organization and smart use of technology.

Congratulations and Thank You!! Mike Feldman

These accolades reinforce that our Chapter is performing and achieving amazing goals. The Chapters’ Board, Committee Chairs/Co-Chairs and all the member volunteers serving on these committees have allowed us to accomplish our objective to be the “best in class”.

I am thankful to each of you that work tirelessly to make the Greater Triangle Chapter a strong and highly respected organization

Thank you and keep it up-Better, Faster, Stronger!
