GreenNC: Building For a Sustainable Future Thursday, September 4,  2008 Raleigh, NC

www.GreenNCTradeshow.com

The NC Triangle Chapter of the US Green Building Council is pleased to announce the 4th Annual GreenNC Tradeshow. This one day event featuring over 60 exhibitors from across North Carolina will offer anyone in the commercial building industry an excellent opportunity to gather information about sustainable products and practices in NC, learn about recent industry advances, and network with others interested in greening commercial buildings. Sustainable building, also known as green building or high performance building, strives to reduce the natural resources used in the construction and operation of building. This includes energy efficiency measures, thoughtful design, use of healthy building materials, water use conservation, and much more.

Who Should Attend?

Anyone involved with commercial or industrial buildings and interested in making those buildings more sustainable. This includes architects, engineers, facility managers, building owners, city planners, school facility planners, students, and anyone else with an interest in sustainable buildings.

To Attend:

Just come. The event is free and open from 9 AM to 5 PM and there is no registration required. There is also a luncheon that requires a $35 registration and will feature local leaders discussing their sustainability efforts.  Visit the website to register for the luncheon.

Bulls Game

June 4, 2008

Our Annual Summer Social was a homerun!  On June 4, we celebrated an afternoon at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park.  It was hot, the Bulls lost, but we had food, beer, and entertainment to keep us amused.  This year was a record-selling 92 tickets sold: our most successful summer social to date!  Thanks to all who attended, for making an afternoon away from the office fun.  A big thank you to Bonitz, Executive Building Maintenance, and Powerflor for sponsoring our summer beverages.  Hope to see you at our next special event!

Golf Outing Hosts Record Numbers!

The Chapter’s 6th annual golf tournament was another outstanding success. A full field of golfers enjoyed the fun and fellowship at Lochmere Golf Club on 23 April in support of the Chapter’s IFMA Foundation scholarship program. Winning the event was the team of Steve Seymore, Ted Randall, Rob Warfield and Jason Rheaume. Second place went to Ken Agee, Steve Daniels, Amy Schwecthofer and Lou Gregus.  A big thank you goes to all of the sponsors, players and event volunteers who collectively made this golf tournament the best one yet! Look for the 2009 edition of IFMA golf next April and don’t miss out on a great day with great people.

IFMA Triangle Chapter Casino Night

March 20, 2008 - The Solution Center

IFMA's 1st Casino Night was a success!  Nearly 70 people were in attendance to test their luck at Black Jack, Roulette, Texas Hold'em, and Craps.  Scott Thorpe of Commercial Movers was the big winner, turning his $2,500 chips into $140,000 - and walked away with 5 of the door prizes.  Congratulations, Scott!  A big thank you to our Annual Sponsors who help support the chapter throughout the year, including special events like Casino Night.  Also, thank you to all the Event Sponsors for this night:  3M Window Carolina, Allied Barton, Bonitz, Brame, CFE, Commercial Works, Cyrco, EDS, Jofie's, Rite Way, Solar Control Inc., Tandus, and William Scotsman.  And with the generosity from Allied Barton, Ambius, Armstrong Relocation, Cort Furniture, Executive Building Maintenance, Linc Facility Services, Humanscale, and MG Capital Maintenance, Inc., we gave away 14 door prizes.  From restaurants gift certificates to Hurricane tickets to plants to furniture to NCAA Tournament tickets, we had it all!  Lastly, thank you to the Casino Night Committee, who began planning for this event last summer:  Renee Jarvis, Heather Denny, Denise Johnston, Lane Gallo, Judy Mewborn, Karen Kistler, and Candy Bays.
